Great Horned Owls
14 June 2011 -- Silver Saddle Ranch, Carson City, NV
Taken on BLM land near the "in flood stage" Carson River. Was told to see the Barn Owls in the barn. Not one Barn Owl but there were four Great Horned Owls. First time to see more than one at a time.

In the Woodpecker family - This is a male Red-Shafted Northern Flicker (Western). The chance of a lifetime to find this bird within about 15 feet of me setting in the grass.
